Prof. Mathews-Benham will be presenting in January to two groups on the first explorations by Europeans in the central “U.S.” The talks, entitled “Of Shipwrecks and Cannibals”, highlights the journey of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca and the Narváez Expedition in the 1520s. Both of these talks are located in Lincoln, NE. Please contact her if you are interested in attending.
She will also be presenting her research on a music teaching in Territorial Alaska and the importance of Oral History research at the Southwest Oral History Association Conference in April 2013 (Las Vegas, NV).
